Q.        WHAT IS SAN GORGONIO SERVICE CENTER COUNCIL?

A.         San Gorgonio Service Center Council is composed of 38 Chapters affiliated with the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association representing approximately 35,000 members in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

 

Q.        WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SAN GORGONIO SERVICE CENTER COUNCIL?

A. 1. To coordinate member participation in the California Teachers Association activities.
  2. To receive tasks from State Council of Education’s committees and offer information and recommendations to the State Council and Board of Directors following study and discussion of professional issues.
  3. To establish statewide channels of communication between State Council committees or commissions and the membership. Acts as an agency for State Council committees or commissions to conduct hearings on current professional issues.
  4. To develop Service Center regional objectives.
  5. To advise the Service Center staff on regional programs and service needs, and to evaluate programs and services.
  6. To provide foundation for regional political activities and legislative contact programs.

Q.        WHAT HAPPENS AT A SAN GORGONIO SERVICE CENTER COUNCIL MEETING?

A.         In an attempt to increase attendance and participation at the Service Center meetings, not only will committee members discuss items pertinent to upcoming State Council meetings, but they will also examine focus topics and/or have special workshop training sessions. Breakfast or brunch is served.

The business meeting is for State Council Representatives, Chapter Presidents or their designees, Service Center Council Representatives, San Gorgonio Service Center Council Steering Committee members, San Gorgonio SCC Staff, and other San Gorgonio Committee Chairpersons.
